Hardcover binding in almost new condition. Unclipped dustjacket is die-cut, with three folding doors revealing color labels on the front cover of the book. There is minor rubbing to the extremities, including several tiny tears and creases, but no chips, as it is also protected in the original acrylic wrapper. Contains 386 reproductions, of which 36 are in color. Includes a mailing envelope dated 1967 addressed by Jean Marcel, to which is stapled a greeting card, the back of which is signed and inscribed by the author "with the best wishes of Lily & [signed] Marcel Jean." Wonderful magnificently illustrated history of one of the great art movements of the 20th Century and the many artists who contributed great works of art to it. All the usual suspects are included and the text is supplemented by 100's of b&w and color reproductions of paintings, drawings, sculptures, mixed media works, graphics, posters and more. The block cloth has three door illustrations that open and close and are mounted to the front cover. The unusal dustjacket also has die-cut doors that also open and close. The front and back endsheets and a few of the first and last pages have a slight wave to them, which appears to be typical for this book. Very minute wear to the dustjacket. Fine/near fine.
